Plasmascreen

This color flat screen discharges plasma gas, which anents phosphor, thus creating multicolored light. Plasmascreens are primarily used as big screen TVs. At present they compete above all with liquid crystal displays ("LCD"), compared to which they have certain advantages in terms of color spectrum and dragging effect.

LED, OLED

An organic light emitting diode is a thin-filmed, luminous structural element, consistend of organic, semi-conducting materials. It differs from the anorganic light emitting diode by lower luminance as well as currency density thus making monocrystalline materials redundant. Therefore they are cheaper to produce, however they currently have a shorter lifespan then LEDs.

1080i

"1080i" denotes a format with 1080 dots vertical resolution in interlaced mode. The horizontal resolution of this format is 1920 pixels, achieving the HDTV typical 16:9 format. This interlaced mode is especially recommended for the display of a 16:9 format on tube televisions. In the case of LCD or Plasma TVs working with full-screen mode, the picture should be deinterlaced for optimal display.
